2You get what you pay for.  Jun 27, 2007
In all honestly, I'm not sure the Freeports deserve the Sennheiser name. Yes, they're much less expensive than the Evolutions, so I might not expect them to be quite as good, but these things are barely adequate. Using them in a church for weddings, my audio operator had to start setting up near the front altar, because the Freeport's range just couldn't reach the back of the church. And even up front, we still get the occasional noise into the signal. This is especially noticeable when switching between the dual-diversity antennaes, something I never saw on the Evolution mics, which switched totally seemlessly.

Bottom line, these mics are cheap - in price, and in quality. You get what you pay for.

5Truly Excellent Sound - especially at the price  Jun 14, 2007
This item has an MRSP of near $500, though it sells for about 1/3 to 1/4 of that price. When you want good quality dialogue without a lot of hiss from a camcorder's built in mic, an external lavilier mic is one of the best ways to get it. Although this unit is wireless, the sound quality is truly excellent with virtually no background sound.

It was easy to set up and use, although you will need a proper connector cord, depending on the device to which you connect the audio output for recording. In my case, I used both a camcorder with an external audio jack and a direct connection to an Apple computer via its 1/8 plug.

It has good range, although I have not tested its outer bounds for good sound quality and reception.

5Perfect  Jan 12, 2007
This device works perfectly for my professional organization. We used to have another vendor's device that had dropouts. With this one, we can hear the presenter loud and clear with no dropouts.
