SW Not compatible with Vista 64 bit Jul 14, 2008 I really wonder if I will ever get this thing up and running. Pro tolls LE is not compatible with Windows Vista 64 bit version. The company does not even mention if it plans any upgrade. I think the solution could be install Widows XP as a second operating system on your PC.

Pro Tools Research Jun 23, 2008 I normally do not write reviews; however after seeing the negative reviews on here I felt I should write about this product.
First, It is imperative that you do research before you buy this piece of equipment. This is Pro Tools, in case you didn't know it is the recording studio standard across the world. It is not designed as a personal computer application and is very finnicky when it comes to operating systems. For example, when I purchased it, I knew that it would not run on Windows XP Media Center Edition. Because I did my research and reading, I bought it anyway and was able to run well but not without some pretty technical changes in the way that my computer operates.
Second, if you are new to computer recording; there is a huge learning curve associated with it. Alot of people hear Pro Tools and go out and buy it without any knowledge of how to record or what computer requirements are. The biggest piece of advice I can give is to read. Read the amazon reviews, get some recording books and recording "theory" books, Pro Tools guides, (futureproducers.com has great forums for questions) and everything until you are going strong. Then after you know what you need and what is overkill, buy on an informed decision. Once you get it up and running its a pretty good solution.
Since getting the MBox 2 Mini I've recorded about 30-40 tracks and they've come out sounding really good, but beware that it is not compatible with VST's and will only run RTAS plug-in's unless you get a VST to RTAS wrapper. Since I've got a host of them it worked out well for me.
Pro Tools is great for recording and pretty good at MIDI sequencing as well. Its not hard to tell why this is the recording standard. I definitely give this product 2 thumbs up.

Inane, over-priced, useless hardware from an unethical, inept company Apr 16, 2008 If you want to waste your money on this product, be my guest. After servicing PC's w/ Mbox integration, I can only say that the designers
of this product cut every corner to put together a cheaply made product
and sell it off to anyone willing to fork over the money. Further, the
customer service at Digidesign is abysmal. Wonder when they'll be outsourcing their services to Mongolia :-(
Treat this product like it was the Bubonic Plague: Stay as far away from
it as possible.

PRO TOOLS Hot Feb 14, 2008 Let's start off by giving them their props on such quality software (industry standards) I see why. I use various programs Sonar 6,7PE, now Pro Tools LE, Reason 4, MOTU Symphonic Instruments just to name a few. But its not about software. I say that the effects that come with this hardware are superb. I can't say that they are the best but I definatley can tell the difference from the other DAWs out there.
Here are my good points about hardware:
Came with the ASIO driver
Hardware don't overheat
Not to bulky
Easy to install (some parts)
Easy to use knobs (Keep it simple)
Lots of high quality plug-ins & VI's
nice solid build
very few cables
Bad points:
USB cable too short
Too dificult to register
Kept asking for ILOK authorization with know way to load resgistered products onto one.
Overall nice hardware but not the best so far.
I use a presonus firebox thats what I still use except when I decide to Jump into Pro Tools so I have to switch over but hey its worth it to an extent. To hear more about software check me out on another review.
Gone.
