Great capabilities...but durability leaves much to be desired Jun 15, 2008 I have owned this product for about nine months and have used it extensively. I have found it to be very good in what it can do, with all of the knobs and sliders to get just the sound you want. The memory storage capabilities are also very helpful. Overdubs are quite easy, which was definitely a bonus. However, there were a number of problems with this product.
Certain aspects of recording are difficult without an internal microphone, and I ended up having to use another recorder for certain parts of the projects I was doing. The model I had was also lacking a CD Burner. In the beginning I had to use another recorder to transfer recorded material, though I later was able to get a cable to connect to the computer directly, which ended up being pretty nice.
My main beef with this product is its tendency to freeze quite regularly. Usually, just in turning on the recorder, it would freeze and I'd have to pull the plug and try again. On good days, I only had to do this twice, though at other times more attempts were necessary. It also froze when it became overheated (kind of paradoxical, isn't it?). Once, I had just finished all of the eight or so guitar overdubs on a pretty complex song. I went to rename the song for organizational purposes. As I hit enter, the machine froze. I could not get it powered back up until the next day. When it came back on, the song was gone. Needless to say, I was pretty frustrated.
However, overall the product was capable of a lot, and had quite a plethora of recording capabilities. So if you can ignore the hardware deficiencies, it is a handy little machine.
P.S. About eight months into my ownership of this product, I pushed the power button, which then caved in and fell into the machine, so now I have to use needle-nose pliers to turn it on.
