Okay for Speech Only Mar 22, 2008 These mics are made for speech purposes and not for instruments. Keep this in mind when ordering them.

about average May 16, 2005 The price seems pretty low for a pair of PZMs, right? I'm sure these are adequate for recording a corporate affair or perhaps popping them on a stage for some extra ambience, but these are definitely the on the low end when it comes to recording music. Not that I'm complaining; these mics are extremely low priced and you get a pair! They do capture a good deal of high sizzle and are pretty good on drums (taped to the walls or floor even) but they do have quite a bit of self-noise. I haven't tried the upper-level crown PZMs but I would imagine they're slightly better in this respect. These require one AAA battery and are unbalanced whereas the higher end ones take phantom power from a mic pre and are balanced. If you want a very good quality PZM I would save up and try for one of the more expensive ones designed for recording.
